About

Me

I’m a technology executive who ships production AI inside enterprise — player-coach, hands-on with the code, accountable for the business outcome. As CTO at Jollyes (TDR-backed, 100+ stores) I lead the engineering and data team end-to-end: payments, store systems, data platform, and most recently a stateful MCP server that lets non-technical colleagues query our retail warehouse conversationally through Claude.ai — replacing dashboards with grounded, business-aware answers. Before Jollyes I was Head of Marketing Data Science at Sainsbury’s, leading the team that launched the AI recommendations engine cited in their quarterly results and tripled Argos’ Meta ROAS.

I hire, mentor, and ship alongside engineers. I work across the stack — Python, TypeScript/React/Node, AWS, Airflow, Terraform — and care more about the customer outcome than the architecture diagram. PhD in Biology from the John Innes Centre (open access papers here). Recently finished 10 years on the board of UK Biology Competitions (5 as Chair), running biology exams for 70,000+ students a year across 1,000+ schools. I’m actively looking for new volunteering opportunities for the public benefit, so if you need education, technology, retail, biology, or data experience please reach out.

Based London/Cambridge, six months’ notice, open to conversations about applied or forward-deployed AI engineering leadership. Always happy to talk shop on retail, AI in production, or biology education.
